16 Saints and Team Honored by NAIA

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2021 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and NAIA Scholar Team awards.  The Siena Heights Baseball Program had sixteen student-athletes and their 2020-2021 team earn these distinctions. 

In order to be nominated for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete, an individual must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.

For a team to be awarded, they must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the academic year.  The Saints had the second highest baseball team GPA in the NAIA and the top baseball team GPA in the WHAC.

Earning the award for the Saints was:

Collin Bammer (2nd time), junior, engineering major from Grosse Ile, Michigan

Zach Bloom (2nd time), junior, accounting major from Swanton, Ohio

Cameron Hammer (1st time), junior, business administration major from Bedford, Michigan

Cody Henderson (2nd time), junior, sport management major from Lewiston, Montana

Deven Hill (1st time), junior, psychology major from Richmond, Michigan

Christian Jabiro (1st time), junior, accounting major from China, Michigan

Thomas Lanek (1st time), junior, business administration major from Locust Grove, Georgia

Jack Malone (2nd time), senior, biology major from Lowell, Michigan

Collin Mong (1st time), junior, marketing major from Rochester Hills, Michigan

Cal Olmstead (2nd time), senior, engineering major from Riga, Michigan

Jakob Scroggie (2nd time), junior, marketing major and communications minor from New Boston, Michigan

Jacob Simmers (2nd time), senior, accounting major from New Boston, Michigan

Brad South (1st time), junior, business administration major from Lambertville, Michigan

Andrew Stoll (1st time), junior, criminal justice major and Spanish minor from Sherwood, Michigan

Andrew Werth (2nd time), senior, criminal justice major from Dearborn, Michigan

Chris Winkelman (1st time), junior, accounting major from Monroe, Michigan

The Saints team was honored with their 8th NAIA Scholar Team Award and 8th straight honor with a 3.49 team GPA.  The award has been an honor for 14 years.
