Adam Wilding Named First-Team All-WHAC to Highlight Honors; 10 Others Receive Awards

Siena Heights freshman outfielder Adam Wilding took home a First-Team All-WHAC selection to highlight the awards.

Wilding ranks 14th in the NAIA in triples per game (0.135), 17th in batting average (.434), and 17th in total triples (5). His season batting average of .434 sets a new program record of the highest batting average in a single season. The previous record was .413 set by Jerry Koester in the the1993 season. Adam earned WHAC Player of the Week on March 17th as he went 16-21 that week with a 0.762 batting average and a 1.143 slugging average on the six games the Saints played. He tallied 12 RBIs, 2 doubles, 3 triples, 5 walks, and 3 stolen bases. He also pitched in the game against Lawrence Tech on Saturday, March 13th. He pitched 3.0 innings and allowed five hits, three runs, and struck out 3 batters that helped lead the Saints to their third win of the season earning the win on the mound. 

Wilding started in 36 games on the season. He tallied 122 at-bats, 28 runs, 53 hits, six doubles, five triples, one home run, 25 RBIs, 20 walks, and 12 stolen bases. He recorded a .590 slugging percentage and a .521 on-base percentage. He made 64 putouts off 67 chances and only made two errors for a .970 fielding percentage. On the mound, he pitched 15 innings while allowing 26 hits, 21 runs, and 8 walks while notching 19 strikeouts. Earning a 7.80 ERA and a 2-1 record.

"He was consistent from day one of the season," said head coach John Kolasinski. "Our catalyst offensively. What a great honor for a true freshman."

Junior outfielder Cal Olmstead was chosen as the team's Champions of Character representative and placed on the WHAC All-Academic team. Olmstead appeared in 22 games recording nine runs, one hit, one walk, and one RBI. 

Collin Bammer, Zach Bloom, Cody Henderson, Jack Malone, Jakob Scroggie, Jacob Simmers, Parker Swartz, and Andrew Werth were also on the WHAC All-Academic team. John Kolasinski was named the WHAC Champions of Character Coach.
