Late Rally Lifts Saints over Cleary

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team won 11-6 against WHAC opponent Cleary in a single game on Friday afternoon. Cole VanWasshenova led the Saints as he went 3-for-5 and had one RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

B. Walcutt earned the loss on the mound for the Cougars as he pitched 4.1 innings allowing seven hits, six runs, one walk, and struck out two. Jacob Simmers earned the win on the mound for the Saints pitching 2.0 inning allowing only three hits and striking out one.

Each team earned one run in the 2nd-inning. C. Fountain doubled through the left side for an RBI that scored K. Flaughter for Cleary and Jack Malone reached first on a throwing error by third base and advanced to second on the throw. Brad South grounded out to shortstop earning an RBI scoring Jack Malone

The Cougars had three runs in the 4th-inning as K. Flaughter grounded out to shortstop scoring A. Lacle and A. Dyke for two RBIs. N. Koan singled through the left side for an RBI that brought in Z. Hargis.

SHU regained the lead in the 5th-inning scoring five runs when Chris Winkelman singled up the middle for an RBI scoring Haydn Smith. Chirs Winkelman then scored on a wild pitch. Adam Wilding singled to right field bringing in Cameron Hammer and Matthew Love for two RBIs. Cole VanWasshenova doubled to center field or an RBI that scored Adam Wilding.

Cleary had one run in the 8th-inning as N. Koan reached on a fielder's choice scoring Tompkins III for an RBI. SHU gained momentum earning five runs in the 8th-inning when Jacob Jackson tripled to center field scoring Brad South. Cameron Hammer tripled to the right-center scoring Matthew Love and Cal OlmsteadCameron Hammer then scored on a wild pitch. Cole VanWasshenova singled scoring Adam Wilding. The Cougars had one run in the 9th-inning as A. Dyke doubled to left field for an RBI scoring J. Fishbaum earning the Saints the 11-6 win.
