Five SHU Baseball Student-Athletes Selected NAIA Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY -- Five members of the Siena Heights baseball team were named to the 2019 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes list that was announced by the national office. Seniors Brenden Baker, Brendan Green, and Reid Olmstead are returning members of the list from last season. Senior Ryley Overacker and junior Michael Jones made the list for the first time. This year's scholar-athletes featured 439 student-athletes with a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA).

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, be of at least junior standing and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.

Indiana Tech led all members of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) with eight student-athletes chosen this year. Siena Heights, Lawrence Tech, Aquinas, and Rochester each tallied five selections. Concordia (Mich.) and Lourdes tied for third-most with four scholar-athletes. UNOH was next with three, followed by Madonna which had two. Cornerstone and Michigan-Dearborn rounded out the list with one scholar-athlete for the 2019 campaign.
