#7 Davenport beats Saints twice

Adrian, Mich.- The seventh ranked Davenport Panthers were able to take a pair of games from the Saints Friday night.

The Saints dropped game one by the score of 12-1.  Davenport scored in all seven innings with single runs in the second, sixth and seventh innings; two runs in the first, third and fifth innings and three runs in the fourth inning.  Siena Heights scored their lone run in sixth inning.

Thomas McCarter struck out four batters in five innings, but took the loss for the Saints. Zach Dunlop went 1-for-3 with a double and a run batted in.  Lucas Bartz had two hits while Dennis Sharp, Freddy Jehle, and Drew Milligan all added singles.

Brendan Bender did the most damage for the Panthers as he went 4-for-4 with two singles, a double and homerun.  He also had three runs batted in.  Corey Murphy pitched six innings for his sixth win of the season.

In game two, the Saints lost 3-1 after Davenport scored two runs in the sixth inning to break the 1-1 tie.  Tayler Thelen pitched excellent for the Saints as he threw all seven inning allowing just three hits and one earned run.  He also struck out five batters.  Austin Hauck drove in the Saints lone run.

Both teams will battle in a double header tomorrow starting at 1pm.
