Baseball Falls to Taylor on Late Three-Run Double

UPLAND, Ind. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped a 4-3 decision to Taylor (Ind.) in non-conference action on Friday.

Travis Stricklin went 2-for-3 with a triple, double and run while both Freddy Jehle and Dennis Sharp Jr. had 2-for-4 games for the Saints (2-6). Jehle drove in a run, Sharp scored a run and Joe Wililams doubled.

Starting pitcher Brent Vaccaro worked five innings for SHU. He did not allow an earned run while surrendering three hits. Vaccaro also finished with three strikeouts.

Tayler Thelen pitched three innings in relief, giving up three runs on three hits while compiling four strikeouts and two walks.

SHU took a 3-1 lead into the eighth inning before the Trojans took the lead for good on a three-run double by Lincoln Reed.

Siena Heights had plated the first run on an RBI groundout in the second inning before Taylor tied the game at 1-all in its half of the frame.

The Saints tacked on solo runs in the third and fifth innings to build their 3-1 advantage. Jehle had an RBI single and then SHU took advantage of a TU error to set the stage for Reed's late heroics for the Trojans.

Kevin Fahy batted 2-for-4 with a run for Taylor. Jared Adkins doubled.

Trojan relief pitcher Jamie Bristol earned the win with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless work. Jordan Crabb recorded the final out to earn the save.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday with a doubleheader at Indiana Wesleyan.
