Baseball drops a pair
Lake Wales, Fla. - Siena Heights baseball team dropped two games today losing game one to Bethel 3-2 and dropping game two to Bellevue 9-2.
 
In game one Bethel jumped out to a 1-0 in the first inning and did not give the lead up the rest of the game.  The Pilots added runs in the third and seventh innings.
The Saints got their scoring started in the fifth when Freddy Jehle singled in courtesy runner Lucas Bartz. The Saints added another run in the eighth when Eric Henderson scored on a Bethel error.  
Leading the way at the plate for the Saints in game one was Eric Henderson who went 2-3 with two singles and a run scored.  Kyle Burkholder took the loss for the Saints going seven innings giving up three runs with only one of them being earned. Justin McPherson pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Pitching a complete game for Bethel was Caleb MacPherson.
In game two, the 9th ranked Belleuve Bruins jumped out to an early lead scoring two runs in the first inning on a home run. The Saints answered back in the bottom of the first to cut the lead in the half when Joe Williams scored Jehle on a ground out.  Like the first game Bellevue did not look back scoring four runs in the fourth, one run in the sixth and seventh, and two in the eighth.  The Saints scored their other run in the fifth when Travis Podolak singled in Travis Stricklin who walked and later on stole third.
Tyler Butlin took the loss for the Saints going five innings while giving up five runs. Travis Podolak went 1-3 at the plate while driving in one run.
The Saints will return to action tomorrow when they play Bethel at 9:30 and then conclude their Florida trip with a game vs Bellevue at 3:30.
