SHU Baseball Drops Non-Conference Game to Albion

ALBION, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team suffered a 5-4 loss to Albion in non-conference play on Tuesday.

Daniel Abbott (double) batted 3-for-4 while both Mike Lollo and Kyle Johnson (triple) went 2-for-4. Marcus Stewart (double) added a 2-for-5 game while Eric Henderson doubled.

The Saints fell behind, 3-0, before striking for two runs in the fourth. Henderson had an RBI double during the frame; the Saints' second run came in on an error.

The Britons extended their lead to 5-2 in their half of the fourth before SHU scored the game's final two runs.

In the Siena Heights sixth, Henderson had an RBI groundout and Abbott provided a run-scoring double.

Travis Mielcarek was the losing pitcher for SHU. Of the five Albion runs scored, three were earned. Mielcarek also allowed six hits while recording two strikeouts and four walks.

Justin McPherson pitched three innings of shutout ball for the Saints, finishing with two strikeouts and one walk.

Brendan Diamond and Adam Mazza had two hits apiece for the host Britons. Spencer Bonfiglion added a double and B.J. Konkle drove in two runs.

Matt Temrowski was the winning pitcher.

The Saints will return to action on Wednesday with a 1 p.m. WHAC doubleheader at Madonna.
