SHU Bats Silenced by Madonna Baseball

LIVONIA, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team lost two games to Madonna, 5-0 and 8-0, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday.

The Saints had six hits in the 5-0 loss -- led by Kyle Benschoter (Hudson, Mich./Hudson), who batted 2-for-4.

Jake Sperry (Livonia, Mich./Westland John Glenn) was the losing pitcher for SHU, allowing just three earned runs on eight hits while finishing with two strikeouts.

Tyler Butlin (Saint Clair, Mich./Saint Clair) provided two innings of scoreless relief for the Saints. He had two strikeouts. Ben Finn (Dexter, Mich/Dexter) added one shutout frame and also struck out two batters.

In game two, the SHU offense managed only three hits before the game was ended after six innings and a 57-minute rain delay. Matt King (Rockville, Ind./Rockville) suffered the loss on the hill.

The Saints will return to action with one nine-inning game at Saint Francis (Ind.) on Friday. The first pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
