Saints' Baseball Falls at Webber

BABSON PARK, Fla. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped a 9-5 non-conference decision to Webber International (Fla.) on Tuesday.

The host Warriors (16-9) opened the game with four straight two-run innings and led the rest of the way.

Five different Saints collected two hits. Kyle Benschoter (Hudson, Mich./Hudson) and Drew Milligan (Hudson, Mich./Hudson) batted 2-for-4 while Eric Henderson (Howell, Mich./Howell), Nolan Herendeen (Grass Lake, Mich./Grass Lake) and Mike Lollo (Allen Park, Mich./Cabrini) went 2-for-5.

Benschoter, Henderson and Lollo finished with an RBI and run scored each; Herendeen and Dan Abbott (Plymouth, Mich./Lutheran Westland) also drove in runs. Abbott and Corey Caldwell (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln Consolidated) added doubles.

Brent Vaccaro (Saline, Mich./Saline) started on the hill for the Saints and worked the first two innings. He recorded three strikeouts and four runs were scored upon him, but none were earned.

Riley Smith (Farmington, Mich./Farmington) and Jake Kret (Wyandotte, Mich./Roosevelt) tossed one scoreless relief inning each.

Lollo added a highlight-reel catch in right field during the Webber eighth. With one out and two runners on, he made a leaping catch to retire batter Trey Huss and then doubled off one runner to finish out a double play.

The Saints (1-4) will have Wednesday off and then get back to action on Thursday with two games in the Warner Southern Tournament. SHU is set to take on host Warner and Bellevue (Neb.).
