Caldwell, Benschoter All-WHAC First Team, Lollo Honorable Mention

A pair of Siena Heights baseball seniors -- catcher Corey Caldwell and second baseman Kyle Benschoter -- were named to the All-Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference First Team while junior teammate Mike Lollo received an honorable mention and eight total Saints were honored on the Academic All-WHAC Team.

Caldwell batted .343, ranking third on the squad with 46 hits, while leading the team in several other categories including doubles (14), home runs (3), runs batted in (28) and slugging percentage (.515).

Benschoter was second on the team in hitting with a .358 average (48-134); his hit total was second-best for the Saints. He also ranked third in on-base percentage (.431), tied for third in doubles (5) and rated fourth in RBI (17).

Lollo, an outfielder, finished with SHU's best individual batting average and hit total -- going 62-for-158 for a .392. He also led the team in total bases (74) and tied for the team lead in stolen bases (4) while ranking second in doubles (10), slugging (.468) and on-base percentage (.433).

Lollo also had one triple and 14 RBI.

Benschoter was previously an All-WHAC Honorable Mention in 2012.

The octet of Siena Heights baseball players on the Academic All-WHAC Team included Caldwell and Lollo, who are sport management majors.

Other Academic All-WHAC honorees were juniors Alec Duncan, Drew Byers, Nolan Herendeen, Robbie Schwartz and Travis Mielcarek and sophomore Kyle Johnson.

Byers and Mielcarek are business majors while Johnson and Schwartz are education majors.  Duncan studies nursing and Herendeen majors in criminal justice.

Mielcarek was also named to the WHAC Champions of Character Team while Lollo was elected to the WHAC Gold Glove Team as its right fielder.
