Women's Volleyball Suffers First Conference Loss, Falls in Four at Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team suffered its first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference loss, dropping a 3-1 decision to unbeaten Lourdes (Ohio) on Friday.

Leze Vukaj finished with 12 kills and Carly Tillotson accumulated 33 assists and 13 digs for the Saints, who lost by set scores of 25-21, 25-12, 22-25, 25-17.

Nicole Morgan, Haley Mercy and Taylor Felver added 12, 11 and 10 digs, respectively for SHU (5-2, 2-1).

Lourdes took charge in the first set with an early 5-0 run and led the rest of the way. Then, in the second, the Gray Wolves (8-0, 3-0) snapped a 5-all tie with a four-point run; that was actually part of a 20-7 finish for LU in the set.

SHU answered in the third set, taking the lead with a five-point streak and holding the rest of the way.

The back-and-forth fourth set featured 12 ties before Lourdes closed with an 11-3 stretch, which including a six-point run.

Stephanie Ruffing and Stephanie Richards had 15 and 14 kills, respectively, for the Wolves. Molly Shonk added 11 kills and 16 digs.

Also, Meghan Birr made 45 assists while Michi Jiminez came through with 17 digs.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday with a 10 a.m. WHAC home contest against Michigan-Dearborn.
