THE MATCHES
The Siena Heights women's volleyball team will play its first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference road match on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Tam-O-Shanter Fieldhouse against Lourdes (Ohio). On Saturday, the Saints host Michigan-Dearborn at 10 a.m. in the SHU Fieldhouse.
SHU is coming off a 3-1 home victory over Northwestern Ohio, which it earned in a WHAC matchup on Sept. 9. Set scores were 25-17, 25-11, 23-25, 25-15.
Lourdes is 7-0, 2-0 in the WHAC and are off to the best start in program history.
Michigan-Dearborn is currently 4-7 overall and 1-1 in the WHAC. The Wolverines lost their first four matches before earning their first victory against NCAA Division III opponent Oberlin (Ohio). That win snapped a 43-match losing streak for the program.
THE SERIES
Siena Heights holds a 6-5 series lead against Lourdes (Ohio). The teams have split their two-match series in each of the last three years, 1-1.
Against Dearborn, SHU has won seven straight matches; UMD's last win was a 3-0 sweep on Nov. 4, 2010. The Wolverines hold a 13-8 edge since 2005.
