Women's Soccer Meets UNOH on the Road in the Team's WHAC Opener

FULL GAME NOTES

This Week for SHU Women's Soccer

Siena Heights Saints (5-2) at Northwestern Ohio Racers (2-5)

1:30 PM | Lima, Ohio | Racer Soccer Field

Upcoming for Saints Soccer: The Saints put their five-game winning streak up on the road in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener at the University of Northwestern Ohio on Saturday.

Head Coach: In his 22 seasons as the head coach of the Siena Heights women's soccer program, Coach Scott Oliver has led the Saints to four Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular-season championships as well as five WHAC tournament titles. In this time, the Saints have also been to the NAIA tournament six times.

At Home: The Saints are 4-0 at home this season. They have outscored opponents 15-1 inside O'Laughlin Stadium.

On The Road: The Saints are 1-2 on the road this season. They opened 2022 with a tough test at Mount Vernon Nazarene, where they lost 3-2 after leading at the half. A similar story in the second game saw the Saints take a 1-0 lead over Thomas More before falling 2-1. A 3-0 lead over Pikeville in game three was enough to earn the team's first win, 3-1.

Stingy Defense: The Siena defense has surrendered no more than four shots on goal in the last six games this season. The Saints have allowed only ten shots on goals at home with only one ball getting into the net.

Opponents have struggled offensively with just a .149 shooting percentage and have only managed to score more than one goal once against SHU.

Setting the Pace: The Saints have dictated play this season, outshooting opponents 146-47 and 65-24 on goal.

Versus the Racers: UNOH has been one of the toughest opponents for Siena Heights since 2013. The Racers and Saints have played 13 times during that span, including three WHAC Championship games. UNOH holds a 10-3 win-loss against SHU since 2013, including a 7-2 mark at home (four of those seven wins were in the postseason). The Saints get credit for taking the most recent meeting in 2021 when SHU won 2-0 inside O'Laughlin Stadium during the annual WHAC matchup.

Saints Leaders: Marissa Young leads SHU in goals (6), points (12), and shots on goal (26). Young is also the only player to take a penalty kick this season, a kick she scored on. Emily Broman leads Siena Heights with seven assists, including an impressive four assists in the 5-1 win over IU Kokomo in the home opener. Isabel Remar has put nine of her 15 shots on goal this year. All four goalkeepers who have seen action this year have recorded a win. Katie Carver is 1-1 after 225 minutes between the pipes. She has a team-high six saves and 1.6 goals against average. Caitlyn Harwood is 2-1 with five saves and 0.94 GAA. Rachel Lynch is 1-0 with three saves and a 1.00 GAA. Finally, Kendall Wise is 1-0 after 90 minutes of play. She has given up no goals and has made three saves.

Scouting Reports: UNOH: Ashley Wilson leads the Racers with 11 points. She has a team-high five goals and an assist on her stat line. Patricia Gomez Nogueras has 10 points with three goals and a team-leading four assists. Nanna Rosengreen has scored four times and dished an assist for nine points.

Ilke Brandsma leads UNOH in goal with 525:59 minutes of play. She has 31 saves and two shutouts to her credit while maintaining a .738 save percentage.
