GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Marissa Young scored her seventh game-winning goal of the season to move up and tie for fourth-most in a single season with Nicole Tobin (1999) as the Saints (10-3-2, 5-2-1 WHAC) registered their 10th shutout victory of the 2021 season.

Young tallied both of the goals for Siena Heights in the conference victory. She finished the evening with three shots on goal to lead the team in that category as well. MacKenzie Stenzel also tallied a shot on goal in the contest. Kara Bishop (W, 9-2-2) made seven saves to maintain the clean sheet--her ninth shutout win of the year.

SHU broke the tie early in the first half when Young dribbled through the defense for her first goal in the opening four minutes of regulation. The Golden Eagles developed a chance to tie things up in the 17th minute, but Bishop made the stop. Young then struck again at the 27:55 mark when she dribbled past the defense again. This time, she added a cut to beat the keeper, and the Saints extended the lead to 2-0 lead. Siena Heights held a 5-2 edge in shots for the first 45 minutes of play.

Cornerstone applied pressure in the second half, outshooting the Saints 8-7 and forcing Bishop to make six saves to keep the Golden Eagles scoreless.
