Saints Fall 1-0 at Cornerstone

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team fell 1-0 on the road against Cornerstone on Friday (Oct. 23). Kara Bishop (L, 2-2) made six saves between the pipes in the losing effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Golden Eagles broke the tie in the 16th minute of the game off a crossed ball into the top of the box allowed Erica Mick to beat Bishop high.

The Saints had three chances to score, two in the first half, but Cornerstone keeper Mikaya Johnson (W, 3-0) made the saves to preserve the lead for the home squad. 

Cornerstone outshot SHU 14-6 and both teams totaled four corner kicks.

TOP SAINTS

• Ashley Strong (Sr. | Howell, Mich.), Marissa Young (So. | Genoa, Ohio), and MacKenzie Stenzel (Fr. | Shelby Twp., Mich.) each tallied a shot on goal for Siena Heights. 

THE OPPOSITION

• Skylar Scholten tallied the team's only assist while also leading the team with two shots on goal.

UP NEXT

The Saints will travel to face Mount Vernon Nazarene next Saturday, October 31. The game is set to kickoff at 1:00 PM.
