Women's Soccer Wraps Up Fall 2020 With Road Game Against Cornerstone

Head Coach: In his 20 seasons as the head coach of the Siena Heights women's soccer program, Coach Scott Oliver has been able to lead the Saints to four Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular-season championships as well as five WHAC tournament titles.  In this time, the Saints have also been to the NAIA tournament six times.
 
Series Notes: Siena Heights leads the series against Cornerstone 17-11-6 since 2000. Both teams own a six-game winning streak, SHU's was from 2014-2018. Siena is 8-5-4 when playing on the road against the Golden Eagles and is 7-2-1 in the last 10 matchups. Cornerstone won 3-1 last season in Grand Rapids, Mich. The last time the Saints won at CU Soccer Stadium was a 3-0 win in 2016. Six of the last 10 games between these two teams have ended in a shutout. Of those 10 contests, two have gone into overtime, four have had a one goal scoring margin, and one has resulted in a tie.
 
Sizing up the Golden Eagles: Cornerstone currently sit atop the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) standings with seven points and an undefeated  2-0-1 record on the year. Last time out, the Blue Devils and the Golden Eagles tied 1-1 after two overtime periods on Tuesday, October 20.
 
As a team, Cornerstone is outscoring opponents 5-3 this year. The team also outshoots ther opposition 43-38. The Golden Eagles have kept things clean this season with no yellow cards as of yet.
 
Leading the team statistically are Jozlyn VanTol, Erica Mick, and Laura Helder who each have three points on the year. All three Cornerstone players have scored a goal and tallied an assist. Helder is the only one of the leaders who has registered a game-winning goal.
 
Mikayla Johnson is the team's leading goalkeeper with 230:49 minutes between the pipes. She has a 2-0 record for the year and has made 16 saves while allowing three goals. She has totaled one shut out on the year.
 
Making History: With the 1-0 win over Indiana Tech on October 3rd, Siena Heights became the first college women's soccer program in the state of Michigan to reach 450 wins.
 
Change of Plans: Due to Covid-19, the Saints have had to adapt and because of this, half of their season will be played out in the spring due to many teams in the WHAC deciding to move their entire season to the Spring. The NAIA has also moved all fall championships to the spring 2021 season as well.
