This Week for the Saints: The 8th-ranked Siena Heights women's lacrosse team looks ahead to facing 1st-ranked Keiser University in the NAIA tournament quarterfinal hosted by SCAD in Savannah, Georgia.

Head Coach: Alexa Matta is in her second season as the head coach for the Saints and currently has a 7-3 record. Her first season in 2020 as head coach was was cut short after just four games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Matta's familiarity with the WHAC came as a four-year starter for the Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team from 2012-16. 

History: Siena Heights is  60-78 all-time in women's lacrosse. The Saints are 10-12 the past two seasons (2020 was cut short after just two games due to COVID). The team has had back-to-back seasons with a winning record in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference after a 5-4 campaign in the 2019 season and a 4-2 mark in 2018. 

NAIA Tournament: The 2018 team made history as the first Saint women's lacrosse team to achieve a berth in the NAIA national tournament. They faced Cumberlands (Ky.) in the quarterfinal round and lost 24-13 to be eliminated from the tournament. This is the team's second time in program history they have received a berth in the NAIA national tournament. 

Series History: The two teams have only met once in the 2019 regular season on March 9th on Keiser's home field. The Seahawks won 24-11. This will be the first time the two teams face each other during the postseason and in the NAIA tournament. 

Scouting Report: 1st-ranked Keiser is 13-0 overall on the season. Melanie Brown leads the team in goals (36), assists (18), points (54), shots (66), and shots on goal (60). Madalyn Huber has the most groundballs (33), caused turnovers (23), and draw controls (63). Jessica Covell leads the team in goal with 593:39 minutes played, 52 goals against, 81 saves, a save percentage of .609, 164 shots faced, and a 12-0 record. 

Players of the Week: Marissa Cirino was named the WHAC women's lacrosse offensive player of the week three times in a row. Two of those three she earned that award of the NAIA level as well.

Setting Records: Marissa Cirino tied the program record for most goals in a game with 10 in the game against Indiana Tech on March 20th. Katherine Tapia ties that record also with 10 goals against Madonna in the 2019 season.

Last Meeting Recap:  The 4-Seeded Siena Heights women's lacrosse team lost the WHAC Tournament Championship 17-10 against 3-Seeded Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon. Madison Spell led the Saints scoring four goals.

The Saints opened the scoring a minute into the first half as Madison Spell found the back of the net. Madison Spell had her second goal of the game at the 16:18 mark. SHU had three straight goals to tie the game as Madison Spell, Marissa Cirino, and Katherine Tapia netted balls with an assist from Tori Tidswell. Each team scored one more goal in the first half from Siena's Emily Pringle assisted by Tori Tidswell with the game tied 6-6 at the half.

The Saints took the lead in the opening 30 seconds of the second half when Jenna Sommerville slotted a free position shot past Dorie Coggin. SHU broke their goal streak as Marissa Cirino found the back of the net off a pass from Emily Pringle. Jenna Sommerville netted her second ball of the game off a free position shot for Siena. SHU had one more from Madison Spell but they ran out of time earning the Blue Devils the WHAC Championship.
