Charles Cain has been Siena Heights’ bowling coach since
the program’s creation in February 2010. The Saints began
competition during the 2010-11 school year.
Cain has a vast bowling background and considerable knowledge. He
has been coached bowling for 10 years and is a USBC United States
Bowling Congress Silver Level Certified Instructor. Prior to
joining the Saints, Cain coached the University of Michigan’s
men’s bowling club team to its first intercollegiate team
sectionals appearance in school history.
Cain is a member of the USBC Coaches’ Association, a member
of the MDUSBC (United States Bowling Congress Metro Detroit
Association) board member, a part of the MDUSBC youth committee,
and one of the state youth delegates of the MDUSBC.
Cain’s success in coaching has not been unique to his time
with the University of Michigan. In 2007, as head coach at Woodland
Lanes (Livonia, Mich.), he led the program to a Michigan state USBC
team championship at the youth tournament. In 2009, he saw a
second-place finish in double at the state youth tournament. For
his efforts, Cain was selected as the Metro Detroit Coach of the
Year for the 2008-09 season.
