Women's Basketball Rolls Past Rochester For 11th Straight Win

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team earned its 11th straight victory with a 73-41 final at WHAC opponent Rochester on Wednesday night.

Kayla Hinton and Madison Vice scored 12 points each for the Saints (11-2, 6-1) while Jakarri Alven totaled 10.

Hinton made six assists. Vice and E'Anna Won grabbed six rebounds apiece. Olivia DeLong had two blocks.

As a team, the SHU defense allowed fewer than its already-NAIA-best 44.1 points-per-game. In the turnover department, the Saints committed 10 while the Warriors finished with 25.

Won had a 3-pointer and Alven converted a 3-point play as the Saints opened the game with an 8-1 run.

A 10-point streak later in the first quarter -- led by seven points from Vice -- helped Siena Heights build a 25-12 lead after one.

SHU outscored host Rochester, 17-3, in the second quarter. The Saints began with a six-point run and finished the half on an 11-0 charge. Hinton (6), Jillian Gelso (5) and Alven (4) led the way.

Siena Heights held its comfortable lead the rest of the way. Its largest margin was 34 points.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday with a 5 p.m. WHAC home game against Cornerstone.
