Women's Basketball Ready to Take on Lourdes and No. 9 Indiana Tech

THE GAMES
The Siena Heights women's basketball team will host two Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contests this week, Wednesday against Lourdes (Ohio) and on Saturday against No. 9 Indiana Tech. SHU will face off against Lourdes and Indiana Tech at 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.

Siena Heights enters the week with a 10-8 overall record and a 4-5 WHAC record. Last week, in their first game of the New Year, the Saints fell to Aquinas, 63-54, and had their previously held, five game win streak snapped. So far this season, SHU averages 64.3 points per game, shooting 38.6% from the field, 29% from behind the arc and 62.2% from the free throw line.

Lourdes currently holds an overall record of 7-9 and 2-7 on the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. As a team the Gray Wolves have connected on 34.8% of their attempts from the field, 32.3% from three point land, 60.2% from the charity stripe and are averaging 66.8 points per game. This is the first time this season that the Saints and Gray Wolves will meet. Last season, Siena Heights won both match-ups.

No. 9 Indiana Tech is 17-2 overall on the season and 8-1 in WHAC play. The Warriors are averaging 82.7 points per game, shooting 46.9% from the field, 34.7% from the three point line and 68.7% from the free throw line. The Saints and Warriors met earlier this season on Nov. 18. ITU won the contest, 77.38.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Leading the Saints offensively is Demi Russell averaging 10.5 points per game. Sharmaine Wills leads on the glass, with 7.7 rebounds per game and had also added a team high, 1.7 steals per game. Alyssa Larson has contributed 1.1 blocks per game, while Azalea Miller has dished out 3.6 assists per contest.

Sydney Miller leads Lourdes with 15 points per game. Tatyana Reyonlds has helped as well, adding 12.7 points per game. LaTyrah Beasley is the Gray Wolves leader, grabbing 6.1 rebounds per game. Christiana Jefferson has contributed 4.3 assists per contest.

Keanna Gary, Haley Cook, Kendall Knapke and DeAnn Kauffman all are averaging double-figure scoring for Indiana Tech, cashing in 17.9, 17.8, 13.5 and 10.4 points per game respectively. Gary leads on the boards with 10.3 rebounds per game. Rachel Bell dishes out an average of 5.1 assists per game,  averages 1.2 blocks per game and 1.2 steals per game.
