Men's Basketball Ends Season with Loss to #3 Indiana Tech in WHAC Tournament Quarterfinal

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell,, 89-69, to third-ranked Indiana Tech in the quarterfinal round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament, on Wednesday.

The Warriors came out to a quick start, going up 11-0 over SHU with 16:55 remaining in the first half and it was a tough climb from there. Siena Heights cut the IN Tech lead to 15-9 with 13:44 left in the first, but couldn't prduce traction to continue the comeback, trailing 39-31 at halftime.

Indiana Tech quickly doubled their lead over the Saints, 54-38 with 15:23 remaining in the contest. SHU trimmed the lead to only 12 points a few times, but it wasn't enough as the Warriors cruised to an 89-69 victory.

Siena Heights was led by Trevor Holston who finished with 19 points and three rebounds. Keith Jordan Jr. added 15 points for SHU as Tony Jackson II tallied 12 points, both managing seven boards to lead the Saints. Nick Randle earned three assists and six points for SHU.

The Warriors, donning their recent No. 3 rank by the NAIA, were led by Dylan Phair who ended the game with 20 points and five boards. Also scoring in double-digits for Indiana Tech was Nic Williams, Darren Groves, Edmond Early and Scott Schweiterman.

As a team, Siena Heights shot 19-51 (31.3%) from the floor, 5-23 (21.7%) in three-point land and 26-34 (76.5%) from the free throw line. Indiana Tech went 28-56 (50.0%) from the floor, 4-13 (30.8%) behind the arc and 29-34 (85.3%) from the charity stripe.

The Saints finish their season with a 12-17 overall record while the Warriors continue to the WHAC Tournament semi-final with a 26-5 record.
