Men's Basketball Set to Open WHAC Action Against Concordia and Indiana Tech

The Siena Heights men's basketball team is set to take on Concordia and Indiana Tech in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contests this week on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.

Last week the Saints (1-1 overall) kicked off the 2017-18 season with a victory over Trinity Christian (Ill.), 74-65. Later in the week SHU traveled to take on Spring Arbor and dropped the contest, 63-46 before hitting the road to compete in exhibition games at NCAA DI, Central Michigan and Western Michigan.

This week the Siena Heights men's basketball team will open WHAC play on Wednesday at Concordia. Concordia is currently holding a 3-2 overall record, and an 0-1 WHAC record after losing to Michigan-Dearborn last week. This week the Cardinals will face off against No. 1 Cornerstone on Saturday after playing the Saints on Wednesday.

Indiana Tech has opened it's season 4-0, after defeating the No. 2 Union College (Ky.) and the No. 3 Saint Francis (Ind.). Last week the Warriors defeated Holy Cross (Ind.) and Olivet Nazarene (Ill.). ITU will open WHAC play on Wednesday against the Saints.

Siena Heights has been led so far this season in scoring, rebounds and assists, by Tony Jackson II with 13.5 points per game, followed closely by Nick Randle with 11.0. Jackson also leads Siena Heights on the glass, averaging 9.0 rebounds per game while Josh Winowiecki has added 8.5. Jackson also holds a team best, 4.0 assists per game with Randle distributing 3.5 per contest.

From the floor the Saints are shooting 42.1% on the season and 24.5% from three. From the charity stripe, SHU has knocked down 60.7% of it's attempts.

Next up, Siena Heights will host No. 1 Cornerstone in a WHAC contest on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
