Football Falls at Roosevelt in Season Opener

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. -- The Siena Heights football team opened its season with a 38-10 loss to non-conference Roosevelt on Saturday.

Running back Ethan LoPresto scored the Saints' lone touchdown, finishing with 10 carries for 43 yards. Fellow back Jordan Ramsey added 36 yards on 10 carries.

Wide-out Bobby Opalewski was SHU's leading receiver with seven grabs for 69 yards.

Defensive back Jack Fitzgerald was credited as Siena Heights' top tackler with six stops. Defensive lineman Joe Wharton totaled 2 1/2 tackles-for-loss, including he sack. He forced two fumbles.

Mason Leach and Cocy Goff added interceptions for the Siena Heights defense.

LoPresto's five-yard touchdown helped the Saints take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, but SHU was outscored 38-3 the rest of the way.

Siena Heights kicker David Medvedik converted four points, including three on a 32-yard field goal.

The Saints (0-1) will return to action with a noon kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 16, against Saint Ambrose at O'Laughlin Stadium.
