Football Overwhelmed by #1 Marian in Season Finale

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Jordan Riley had a 104 yard kickoff return in the Siena Heights football 59-14 loss to top-ranked Marian (Ind.) in a Mid-States Football Association Mideast League contest for the 2016 season finale on Saturday.

Heading into halftime, the Saints trailed 24-0. Lucas Barner Jr. had a 50-yard completion to Deontae' Rush with 11:27 remaining in the third quarter to put the Saints on the board. Riley scored with 2:05 left in the third to make it 45-14 to end the third quarter.

Barner ended the game with 11 completions in 19 attempts for 121 yards for the Saints. Rush led the SHU receivers with 54 yards in two catches. Curtis Smith Jr. brought in three for 38 yards.

On the ground, Dont'e Fox led Siena Heights with 84 yards in 14 carries. Ronnie Giles Jr. added on 25 yards in six carries.

In seven kickoff returns, Riley totaled 208 return yards, including a new school record 104-yard kick return. Tracy Mayes held the previous record with a 99-yard kick return in 2012 against Taylor (Ind.).

Defensively, Da'vonte Price led the Saints with 10 tackles while Da'Quan Butler and E.J. Shaah each made seven stops. Leading the Knights was Dillon Dittemore with 11 tackles, including 3.5 sacks for a loss of 27 yards.

Marian (10-0, 6-0) scored six rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns on the Saints. Jakhari Gore ran in two for the Knights while six different Knights scored the remaining touchdowns. Matt Plesac made the lone MU field goal.

The Saints finished the season 5-5 overall and 2-4 in the MSFA Mideast League.
