Crusaders Sweep Saints in WHAC Play

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped a doubleheader against WHAC opponent Madonna on Sunday afternoon. Chris Winkelman led the Saints as he went 2-for-4 between both games.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1: Madonna 14, Siena Heights 0

Matthew Love (L, 1-1) started on the mound for the Saints, notching two strikeouts. N. Blain (4-0) started on the mound for the Crusaders, pitching six innings while only allowing three hits and earning six strikeouts. Madonna struck first in the 1st inning scoring three runs off five hits. SHU an opportunity to score in the 2nd inning but they left three runners on base.

The Crusaders added two runs in the 4th inning off two hits and one error. Siena left one runner on base in the 4th-inning. Madonna added another run in the 5th inning off two hits. The Saints had one runner left on base in the 6th-inning. The Crusaders pulled away with six runs in the 7th inning off six hits and one error secure the win. 

Game 2: Madonna 13, Siena Heights 1

R. Dusang (W, 1-0) pitched six innings for Madonna as he allowed four hits, one run, and tallied six strikeouts. Jarrett Cousino started on the mound for the Saints and pitched four innings, notching five strikeouts. SHU left one person on base in the 1st-inning. The Crusaders opened the scoring in the 2nd-inning earning one run off two hits and one error. 

Madonna busted open in the 4th inning earning five runs and in the 5th inning earning one run off seven hits. SHU brought in their only run of the game in the 6th inning as Adam Wilding reached on base on a single to right field and Cal Olmstead singled to center field for an RBI that scored Adam Wilding

The Crusaders closed out the scoring in the 7th inning earning three runs off two home runs and a wild pitch to secure them the win.
