Saints Host Spring Arbor in Non-Conference Doubleheader Tomorrow

Upcoming for Saints Baseball: The Saints look ahead to a non-conference doubleheader against Spring Arbor. SHU had their first conference doubleheader against Cornerstone scheduled on Saturday, March 20th but that game has been postponed due to COVID. 
 
Head Coach: John Kolasinski enters his 18th season as the head coach for the Saints and his 35th season as a collegiate head coach. Currently, Kolasinski has accumulated a career record of 536-766-1 in over 30 years of coaching. The skipper won his 500th career game on March 6th, 2019 when the Saints beat Bethel 22-9. Kolasinski currently stands as the coach with the second-most wins in Siena Heights baseball history. His best season was his 33-25 record in 2012 -- a 25-win improvement over the previous season.
 
Spectator Policy: Family members of SHU Student-athletes and a limited number of the Siena Heights Community (Faculty, Students, and Staff) will be allowed to attend SHU Athletic home events held at both facilities. No visiting spectators will be allowed to attend an event on the SHU campus at this time.
 
Last Week Recap: On Friday, March 13th the Saints played a non-conference doubleheader against Lawrence Tech and split as they lost the first game 25-8 and earned their first win of the season in the second game 6-4. 
 
On Saturday, March 14th the Saints played a single game against Rochester and Lawrence Tech. They won both games earning their second and third win of the season as they won 9-2 against Rochester in the first game and 9-7 in the second game against Lawrence Tech.
 
On Sunday, March 15th the Saints played single games against Rochester and Lawrence Tech. They dropped both games as they lost the first game against Rochester 19-17 that went 9 innings and lost the second game against Lawrence Tech 19-0. 
 
Top Saints: Adam Wilding had an outstanding week as he went 16-21 with a 0.762 batting average and a 1.143 slugging average. He tallied 12 RBIs, 2 doubles, 3 triples, 5 walks, and 3 stolen bases. He also pitched in the game against Lawrence Tech on Saturday, March 13th. He pitched 3.0 innings and allowed five hits, three runs, and struck out 3 batters that helped lead the Saints to their third win of the season as he also earned the win on the mound.
 
Zach Bloom closed in the game against Spring Arbor and faced four batters while recording a pitched count of 17-9 while striking out one batter. In the game against Lawrence Tech, Bloom pitched all 7 innings as he faced 27 batters and had a pitch count of 104-67. He allowed eight hits, four runs, and struck out six batters as he helped lead the Saints to their first win of the season. He currently has a 7.20 ERA on the season.
 
Series History: Spring Arbor - The Cougars hold the all-time record 14-6 against the Saints.  Spring Arbor is currently on a three-game winning streak and has a 4-3 home record and 3-2 away record against SHU. The two teams met last week on March 10th in a non-conference single game and the Cougars slipped away with an 8-6 win. 
 
Scouting Report: Spring Arbor has an overall record of 6-9 this season. Glenn Miller has the team's highest batting average and slugging percentage (.667). Brant Mast has the most runs scored (14) and stolen bases (7). Jackson Kitchen has the most hits (15), and RBIs (10). Brandon Hayes has the highest doubles (5). Landon Raczkowski has 3 home runs. Sean Cassel leads the Cougars on the mound with a 1.80 ERA, 15.0 innings pitched, and 20 strikeouts.
