The following was printed on Anthony Staffney's HOF
plaque:
In his first year eligible for the SHU Hall of Fame, Anthony
Staffney was a unanimous selection by the committee. Staffney
is considered one of the best two-way players who played during a
period in which the Saints were a WHAC conference and NAIA national
basketball power.
In 1998, Staffney became the first and only player from Siena
Heights named to the 1st-Team NAIA All-America
Team. In 1997, he received the NAIA Hustle Award and was
named to the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-Tournament
Team after helping the Saints to a runner-up finish. That
same year he was named the Most Valuable Player at the National
Catholic Basketball Tournament. Staffney ranks #1 all-time in
steals, #2 in assists and #10 in points scored in the SHU record
books at the time of his induction. Staffney was also
selected to three All-WHAC Teams, two All-WHAC Defensive Teams, and
was named the team MVP three times during his four-year career.
