ADRIAN, Mich. - The Saints women's wrestling team made history on Saturday by getting its first dual meet win and beating a ranked opponent for the first time.
Siena Heights went 4-0 at the Adrian College Duals. After picking up wins over Emory & Henry, Aurora and Lakeland – the Saints battled with No. 7 Tiffin to the very last match and picked up the 23-20 win.
"Our team was resilient today and made another positive step forward," said Head Coach Dominic Adams. "In our last dual of the day, we needed a pin or a tech fall and Mia Delgado came up huge with the fall. I am so proud of how the team battled today."
In the first three duals, Siena Heights benefited from a full lineup and the other teams gave up a lot of forfeits which are worth 5 team points.
The Saints beat Emory & Henry 28-11 in the opening contest of the day, Aurora 25-17 in their second dual, and Lakeland 33-7 in their third dual.
Leading the way for the Saints was Freshman Bo Geibe. She went 4-0 on the day and had the program's first 5-point move, which was a beautiful belly-to-back suplex.
UP NEXT - The Saints return to Adrian tomorrow for an individual tournament. Wrestling starts at 10 a.m.
