Valeria Ahumada got the first win for the Saints women's wrestling team and powered her way to a record day for SHU Saturday the Pointer Open at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.
"I am so proud of how our team competed today in our first tournament in school history. We had four placers in some tough weight classes," said Head Coach Dominic Adams. "Each wrestler improved throughout the day and gained valuable experience. This is a great first step for our program."
The Saints were led by Ahumada's 3rd place finish at 109 pounds — setting the mark for highest tournament placing.
The other placers included Bo Geibe who was 5th at 170, while Zoë Hussar (155) and Mia Delgado (191) finished 6th.
The Saints wrestle at Adrian Duals and the Adrian Open on Saturday and Sunday.
