Norman Becomes Third SHU Woman To Reach 1,000 Kills as Volleyball Sweeps LTU

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Olivia Norman became the third Siena Heights women's volleyball player to reach 1,000 career kills as the Saints took a 3-0 victory over Lawrence Tech on Friday at the SHU Fieldhouse. Set scores were 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.

Norman finished with 11 kills and now has 1,003 in her career as a Saint. She also totaled five blocks.

Devyne Eisenhauer and Kei Sullivan added eight kills apiece. Aubrey Bates made 30 assists.

Melina Hanes led the way in digs with 14, followed by Emalee Maesch (13), Eisenhauer (12), Jessica Holsapple (11) and Bates (10). Claire VanDyke hammered five aces.

Siena Heights (17-5, 10-3) trailed 12-11 in the opening set before running past the Blue Devils (11-8, 9-4) with an 8-1 stretch. Norman had three kills and one block in that run while Bates compiled four assists and one ace. SHU eventually ended the set with a 6-1 run.

Tied 7-7 in the second, SHU took the lead for good in the set with a 5-0 run. Bates made three assists in that stretch.

The visiting Devils took a 4-0 lead to start the third and later led 16-11 before the Saints outscored LTU 14-5 the rest of the way. With the teams tied 20-all, SHU finished with a 5-1 burst.

Siena Heights will be right back in action on Saturday with a 2 p.m. WHAC home match against Rochester Christian.
