FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Siena Heights women's high jumper Emma Valentine claimed her third-ever WHAC individual championship, helping the Saints' indoor track and field team take first place through day one of the WHAC Indoor Championships at Indiana Tech.
Valentine had a winning height of 5 feet, 9 inches (1.75 meters) -- just one inch off her school record -- to claim the 2025 WHAC Indoor high jump crown. Valentine, the defending indoor national champ, previously won WHAC championships in 2023 (both indoor and outdoor).
Teammate Morgan Lutton followed with a runner-up finish, hitting a provisional for the first time of the season. Lutton's height was 5-6 1/4 (1.68m).
Weight throwers Jordan Lumbrezer and Akiyah Ash placed fourth and sixth, respectively, with distances of 49-11 (15.22m) and 47-5 (14.44m).
Haley Bell added sixth-place points in the 5,000-meter run, clocking in at 19:24.65.
The Saints had three sprinters qualify for Saturday's finals: Faith Jackson and Linnearia Richards in the 60 hurdles and Jenna-Ann Johnson in the 60.
Jackson had a prelim time of 8.63 seconds to earn the No. 2 seed -- just 0.01 seconds off her season-best. Richards finished in 8.83 and owns the No. 3 seed.
Johnson has the five-seed in the 60 with a prelim 7.76.
In team scoring, the Saints lead the way with 63 1/2 points. Indiana Tech is second with 60 1/2 and Cornerstone is third with 53.
