Valentine Breaks Own Record, Wins High Jump at Saginaw

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- High jumper Emma Valentine broke her own school record while winning her event as the Siena Heights women's indoor track and field team opened its season at the Saginaw Valley Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Valentine and pole vaulter Margherita Conrad were winners with NAIA automatic-qualifying heights.

Valentine cleared 5 feet, 10 inches (1.78 meters), breaking her old record by a quarter-inch (5-9 3/4). Teammate Morgan Lutton placed seventh with a 5-1 1/4 (1.56m).

Conrad cleared 12-2 1/2 (3.72m) in the vault. Teammates Emma Stewart and Samantha Nowell followed in third and fifth, respectively, with heights of 11-6 1/2 (3.52m) and 10-10 3/4 (3.32m).

Brooke Sharp ran the fourth place in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:00.74.

Jordan Lumbrezer was fourth in the weight throw with a 51-7 1/4 (15.73m).

Erica Albrecht placed fourth in the pentathlon with 2,373 points. Her long jump of 16-6 (5.03m) bested the pentathlon field.

Jenna-Ann Johnson finished fifth in the 60 with a time of 7.85 seconds, although her prelim time was faster at 7.83.

Bailey McCulloch was sixth in the 800 in 2:26.62 and Haley Bell ran the 3,000 in 11:10.28 for seventh.
