Julia Stancato Inks Deal With The Detroit City Football Club

DETROIT -- Siena Heights graduate Julia Stancato signed a deal to play for the Detroit City Football Club (DCFC) for the club's inaugural women's season.

The South Lyon, Michigan product was one of four signees to the DCFC women's team that was announced yesterday. Stancato was the sole former National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) student-athlete in the group of four (the other three were all members of NCAA Division I programs).

"I am proud of Julia," stated SHU women's soccer head coach Scott Oliver. "It is a great accomplishment and I have the utmost confidence in her. She is a great player and person that will definitely make a positive impact on that team."

The team scheduled the season-opening match for Saturday, May 9 against Midwest United. The match is set to start at 7:30 p.m. at the Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, Michigan.
