Women's Soccer Plays Huge Part in Success of SHU Blood Drive

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Siena Heights University partnered with the American Red Cross and held a blood drive in Benincasa Hall on Wednesday, January 29. The goal given by the Red Cross was a total of 62 units, which was met and surpassed by 14 units.

During the drive, 89 people attended to give blood. Of those 89 people, 31 members of the Siena Heights women's soccer team were in attendance and were a big part in pushing toward and past the goal for the afternoon. "I am proud of the girls for giving and donating blood, potentially helping to save lives of people they may never meet," said Saint head coach Scott Oliver. "The goal was just to continue to help our student-athletes realize that they can always do something to help make a positive impact on the people in their community.  It also helped many of our student-athletes overcome the fear and negative stigmatisms that comes with donating blood.

The next blood drive on campus will take place in September 2020 during the fall semester.
