HOWELL, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team shut out Cleary on Saturday afternoon to earn their first WHAC contest win on the season with a 1-0 final score. Ashley Strong (Junior, Howell, Mich.) scored the Saint's lone goal of the game.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Siena Heights 1, Cleary 0

Location: Howell, Mich. (Lake Trust Stadium)

Records: Siena Heights (5-3-1, 1-1 WHAC), Cleary (3-4, 0-1 WHAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Saints wasted no time at the start of the first half as Strong netted a ball past Cleary goalkeeper Kara Donaldson (L, 3-4) in the 10th minute of play. Neither team was able to capitalize on its chances the rest of the half and Siena would head to the locker room with the 1-0 lead. The Saints edged the Cougars 11 shots to nine and three corner kicks to zero in the first half.

The second half would see no action as neither team was able to put any goals on the board. The final push for Cleary to tie the game came up short and Siena held on for the win. The Cougars barely edged the Saints nine shots to eight and Siena barley edged Cleary four corner kicks to three in the second half.
