ADRIAN, MICH. -- The Siena Heights women's soccer team defeated the Huntington (Ind.) Foresters after a double-overtime thriller on Saturday night. Erin Tyson (Freshman, Freeland, Mich.) had three shots and the game-winning goal in the effort for the Saints.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Siena Heights 2, Huntington (Ind.) 1

Location: Adrian, Mich. (O'Laughlin Stadium)

Records: Siena Heights (3-2-1), Huntington (Ind.) (3-5)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Saints and Foresters had multiple scoring opportunities but were unable to capitalize on their chances as the game remained scoreless until the last minutes of the first half. Julia Stancato (Senior, South Lyon, Mich.) had three corner kicks that would be punched out by Huntington goalie Maddy Moan (L, 3-5). The momentum changed as Magali Romero (Senior, Asuncion, Paraguay) took a shot that trickled by a Forester defender and beat Moan to give SHU a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute of play. Huntington was unable to put themselves on the board and SHU would be in the lead at half time. Siena edged the Foresters 12 shots to one as well as two corner kicks to one of the half.

Huntington would break the tie as Courtney McKnown had a breakaway pass and scored to put them on the board in the 81st minute of gameplay. Macy Llewellyn (Junior, La Porte, Ind.) crossed the ball in the box to Jennifer Richmond (Junior, Canton, Mich.) but her shot went high. With one second left of gameplay, Tyson shot the ball but it went wide forcing the game to go into overtime. The Saints edged the Foresters 10 shots to six as well as four corner kicks to one of the second half.

Neither team was able to capitalize on its chances in the first overtime and the score remained a 1-1 deadlock at half time.

It came down to crunch time for both teams to succeed in their chances to take home the win. Tyson would score off a pass into the box by Elizabeth Furgason (Freshman, Haslett, Mich.) to propel them over the Foresters.
