Women's Soccer Upsets #2 Northwestern Ohio to Win WHAC Tournament Championship

LIMA, Ohio – The Siena Heights women's soccer team upset the NAIA second-ranked Northwestern Ohio 3-2 in overtime to claim the title of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament Champions, on Saturday, to earn an automatic-bid to the NAIA National Tournament.

The Racers (17-2-1) scored two goals off of headers at the 17 and 20-minute mark. Camilla Anderson netted the first goal with a low header off of a Rikke Sevecke cross. Sevecke scored the second goal as she headed in a corner kick from Kate Agyemang.

Taylor Mulder gave the Saints (12-6-2) life in the 63rd-minute as she finished a bouncing ball in the box. Emily Burkman netted the equalizer in the 81st-minute, heading in a free kick from Mulder. The 2-2 score would hold through regulation.

With 93:43 on the clock, Mulder finished a pass from Kathryn Gordon far post to claim the championship title.

Leading the Saints in shots was Mulder with three while Samantha Bartelotti took two shots. For the Racers, Evdokia Popadinova and Bogca Horvath each took two shots. UNOH took 10 shots as SHU took eight, the Racers held a 4-2 corner kick advantage.

In goal, Meghan Bogg made six saves to earn the win for SHU. Romane Salvador had three saves for UNOH.

Siena Heights awaits news on their opponent for the first round of the National Tournament as the selection show will be on Monday at 12 p.m. here. The game will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18.
