Siena Heights senior defender Kelsey Young was named Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
Young is a key component to SHU's defense, which has recorded nine shutouts in 2014. She assisted Jori Bitter's game-winning goal during Siena Heights' 1-0 victory over Indiana Tech on Saturday. SHU also defeated seventh-ranked Davenport, 1-0, on Wednesday.
The 20th-ranked Saints (11-1-0, 3-0-0) have rattled off six consecutive shutouts. Dating back to its only loss -- a 1-0 defeat at Saint Francis (Ind.) -- Siena Heights has gone 609 minutes and 55 seconds without allowing a goal.
