ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team earned an 88-47 victory against Great Lakes Christian during Saturday's action in the SHU Thanksgiving Classic.
Brooke Rebman led the way with 21 points, finishing with a perfect shooting percentage. She was 8 of 8 from the field, including 3 of 3 from three-point land. Rebman was also 2 of 2 from the free-throw line.
Jam Thigpen added a double-double worth 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sarrinah Ajami grabbed eight rebounds.
The game was tied 17-all after the first quarter before the Saints outscored GLCC, 48-16, in the middle quarters.
Siena Heights had 10-point runs in both the second and third quarters. Trailing 19-17, SHU took a 27-19 lead; Thigpen led that stretch with four points.
Then, in the third, Rebman scored all 10 points in a 10-0 Saint run which stretched SHU's advantage to 52-27.
The Saints (4-4) will return to play on Sunday at 4 p.m. against Bethel (Tenn.). Although the teams were already set to play one another in the classic, the contest will now serve as a de facto championship game as Bethel won its Friday game against Lawrence Tech, 78-58.
LTU and GLCC will meet in the earlier game at 2 p.m.
