ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's basketball team defeated Rochester 70-49 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play on Saturday night at the SHU Fieldhouse. Fourth-year junior Jayshonna Blackshire tallied a career-high 19 points and five steals to lead the Saints in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Kiana Votava led the Saints with five points in the first quarter. Blackshire tallied four points in the first and the Saints used a 5-0 run in the final minute to hold onto a 14-11 lead going into the second quarter.
Siena was 9-15 from the floor in the second quarter to build a 34-21 lead at the half. A 6-0 run in the final four minutes of the half was key to helping the Saints build the lead.
The Warriors started the third quarter with a 6-0 run to cut Siena lead to nine points (36-27) with 8:02 remaining in the opening quarter of the second half. SHU would continue to build upon the lead, using a 5-0 run to jump out to a 15-point advantage with 2:14 left before the start of the final quarter.
The Saints put the game away with a 9-0 run in the fourth quarter that began at the 5:22 mark and ended with just 1:46 left in the game.
TOP SAINTS
• Blackshire was 6-15 from the floor in the game and was a big reason why the Saints held a 10-0 advantage in fast-break points.
• Demi Russell and Alyssa Larson each tallied nine points in the game. Russell was 4-7 from the floor while Larson was 3-3 off the bench.
• Kiana Votava finished with eight points and Sharmaine Wills scored seven points while leading the team with seven rebounds.
THE OPPOSITION
• Devan Valko led the Warriors with 13 points.
• Brooke Fielder and Valko led the team with five rebounds.
