#19 Saints Steamroll Lourdes Women, Clinch WHAC Tourney Spot

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The 19th-ranked Siena Heights women's basketball team used a dominant first half to claim a 64-31 victory over Lourdes (Ohio) in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Thursday at the SHU Fieldhouse. With the win, SHU earned its 14th win in its last 15 games and clinched a berth in the WHAC Tournament.

Grace Howrigon finished with 12 points, seven assists and four steals while Sierra Calhoun added 11 points and five rebounds for the Saints (19-6, 12-5), who led 45-8 at halftime.

Also for SHU, Jennifer Jasinski had nine points, five rebounds and four steals. Jessie Arnold also grabbed five boards.

The Saints (19-6, 12-5) scored the game's first 10 points, including seven from Jasinski, and cruised from there. Siena Heights had a 28-0 run later in the first half, getting 11 points from Calhoun and seven from Howrigon.

SHU shot 17 of 31 from the field during the first half (54.8 percent), including 6 of 15 from 3-point territory (40 percent). The hosts held Lourdes to a 3-for-26 field-goal performance -- and 0-for-10 effort -- in the first (11.5 percent).

In the second half, the Saints' largest lead was 39 points -- at 50-11 -- while the smallest deficit was 32.

Tiffani Blackman was the Gray Wolves' leading scorer with eight points. Tarynn Hampton added seven rebounds.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. tip-off at Madonna.
