Softball Caps Off Spring Trip With Two Wins Including a No Hitter by Kieper

VIERA, Fla. -- Cassi Kieper pitched a no-hitter and Shyann Truax tossed a shutout as the Siena Heights softball team wrapped up competition at the SpaceCoast Games with an 8-0 win over Waldorf and a 7-1 victory against Hannibal-LaGrange.

The Saints (6-6) will play next when they visit Grace Christian for a 3 p.m. non-conference doubleheader on Thursday, Mar. 20.

Siena Heights 8, Waldorf 0 (5 innings)
Truax allowed four hits in five innings of work while totaling four strikeouts and one walk. She also drove in two runs at the plate.

Also for the SHU offense, Lee Clinton stole two bases and scored two runs. Faith Breinager added a double and stolen base. Emma Marshall doubled.

Siena Heights jumped in front with two runs in the first inning on RBI singles by Clinton and Truax. Breinager added a sacrifice fly during SHU's two-run second.

The Saints scored four times in the fifth. Truax had an RBI groundout, Marshall ripped an RBI double and Lauren Dioszegi hit an RBI single.

Kieper finished with 10 strikeouts and four walks. The only run scored against her was unearned.

Second baseman Avery Schellenberger made the top defensive play to preserve the no-hitter, ranging to her left behind first base to make the play on an H-G groundout.

Clinton had two hits, two runs and three stolen bases. Liberti Fair added a triple and two runs, Truax (double) added two hits, one run and one RBI, and Emma Fair (double) finished with two hits, one run and one RBI.

The Saints fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning and scored seven unanswered runs.

Emma Fair had an RBI triple and Ellie Thelen delivered an RBI groundout in SHU's 3-run first.

The Saints tacked on four more in the third. Truax had an RBI double and Emma Fair tagged an RBI single during the inning.
