
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Siena Heights softball team dropped both ends of a WHAC doubleheader at Indiana Tech on Saturday. The Saints fell via scores of 6-4 and 11-3.
SHU will play again on Monday when it hosts Cornerstone for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader.
Game one: Indiana Tech 6, SHU 4
Shyann Truax batted 2-for-4 with a double and RBI for SHU. She also pitched for the Saints, recording four strikeouts and two walks in six innings.
The Saints took a 3-2 lead on an RBI single by Truax during their three-run third inning. Courtnee Chappetta also had an RBI in the inning.
Indiana Tech had gone ahead on a two-run homer by Katie O'Drobinak in the first.
The host Warriors (30-4, 10-0) regained the lead with a two-run fourth before SHU tied the contest on an error in the fifth.
O'Drobinak delivered the decisive blow for Indiana Tech in the sixth with a two-run double.
Game two: Indiana Tech 11, SHU 3 (5 inn.)
Eva Curtis had an RBI double and Lyndsey Pena hit a sacrifice fly for SHU.
Curtis gave the Saints a 1-0 lead in the first, which Indiana Tech erased with three runs in its half of the first.
SHU drew even at 3-3 in the fourth. Lyndsey Pena had a sacrifice fly in the inning.
The Warriors finished the game with the next eight runs. They scored five in the fourth and three in the fifth.
