Softball Splits Against UNOH in Saturday Doubleheader

LIMA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights softball team split with UNOH on Saturday with a game one loss of 6-5 and a win of 6-2 in game two. Jordan Green struck out 11 batters in game two to lead the Saints in the winning game.

Records: Siena Heights (10-6, 1-1 WHAC), UNOH (14-10, 3-3 WHAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Saints led 3-1 going into the bottom of the 3rd-inning before the Racers tallied five runs in the bottom half to take the lead and never relinquished it. Siena scored one run in the fourth and another in the seventh to cut the advantage to one run, but UNOH held out for the win.

The Racers took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning of game two. Siena used a five-run outing in the fifth to pull ahead 5-1. UNOH scored in the bottom half to come three runs from the lead. The final run came in the sixth from the Saints. 

TOP SAINTS

Hitting

Sam Hill was 2-5 in game one. She led the Saints with two runs in the first game as well. 

Haley Rose (2-4), Sam Spicer (2-4), Kat Moreau (2-3), and Julia Hogston (2-4) each had two hits in game one. 

Lily Guerra (1-2), Rose, and Hogston each tallied an RBI in the opening contest. 

Kelsey Uhl was 2-4 at the plate to lead the Saints in game two.

Pitching

• Uhl got the start in the circle for the Saints. She struck out three batters and allowed seven hits in three innings pitched. 

Kiley Elbaor pitched in relief. She sat down three batters and only allowed one hit in her three-inning appearance.

Jordan Green (W) pitched her third complete game of the season in the second-game win. She surrendered eight hits and two runs while striking out 11 Racers.

UP NEXT

Siena will travel to Sylvania, Ohio to face Lourdes in a conference doubleheader against Lourdes on Wednesday, April 7. The first game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
