
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- The Siena Heights softball team dropped both games at Indiana Southeast. The Saints lost game one 8-1 before falling 9-5 in the second game. Haley Rose led the team with four hits on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Indiana Southeast def. SHU, 8-1
The Grenadiers scored in the opening inning to take a 1-0 lead before the Saints knotted things up in the 2nd-inning. Rose got on base with a double to left. Sam Spicer then doubled to bring Lauren Murphy, pinch-running for Rose, home put Siena on the board.
Indiana Southeast added four runs in the 3rd-inning and extended the lead with three more in the sixth. The Saints failed to score again and the game ended in the middle of the 7th-inning.
Game 2: Indiana Southeast def. SHU, 9-5
Sam Hill got things rolling with a single. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Lily Guerra before a fielding error brought Hill home for a 1-0 lead in the 1st-inning. IU-Southeast scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead.
Julia Hogston singled to right-field in the 2nd-inning to score Maddie Herrera to tie things at two runs. Hill tripled to left, scoring Hogston and taking a 3-2 lead. The lead was extended to 5-2 in the 5th-inning when Alexis Hirst and Murphy crossed home plate for two runs.
The Grenadiers scored a run in the bottom half of the 5th-inning to cut the deficit to two runs. The lead changed in the sixth when IU-Southeast scored six runs to put the score at the 9-5 mark that ended the game.
TOP SAINTS
Hitting
• Rose was the only Saints player two have more than one hit in the first game. She finished 2-3 in that game and 2-4 in the second game.
• Hill was 3-4 at the plate in game two. She also scored a run and had an RBI.
• Spicer had two hits in the final game of the day. She batted in one run in the contest.
Pitching
• Kelsey Uhl pitched a complete game during game one. She struck out six batters and gave up nine hits in her first loss of the season.
• Jordan Green got the start in game two. She struck out five and allowed 10 hits in the 23 at-bats.
• Bre Schmidt pitched an inning of relief. She faced three batters and gave up one hit in her time inside the circle.
THE OPPOSITION
Hitting
• Ashtyn Sharp led IU-Southeast with two hits and an RBI in game one.
• Lindsey Nelson and Macie Zink each totaled two hits in game two.
Pitching
• Hannah Ogg pitch six innings in the first game. She struck out eight Saints and gave up one run. She also pitched three innings of relief in game two.
• Gabby Mahoney started game two with four-innings pitched. She gave up seven hits and five runs, three earned.

Siena will travel to face the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in a doubleheader next Friday, March 12. The games are slated to start 2:00 p.m., CST.
