
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Jordan Harris placed runner-up in the weight throw and pole vaulter Alan Alston placed third, leading the Siena Heights men's indoor track and field team on day one of the WHAC Indoor Championships at Indiana Tech.
Harris finished with an NAIA provisional distance of 59-5 (18.11m) while fellow thrower Elijah Collins placed eighth with a 53-7 (16.34m).
Alston was among five vaulters to score points for the Saints with his height of 15 feet, 3 inches (4.65 meters).
Vaulters following Alston included fifth-place Jeremiah Bullis (14-3 1/4, 4.35m) and then three vaulters who cleared 13-9 1/4 (4.20m): Kolby Masserant, Caleb Greear and Cooper Bolton. Masserant and Greear tied for sixth while Bolton dropped to eighth on a tiebreaker.
Devonta Habern earned points in two field events. He and Holden Van Poppel tied for fifth in the high jump at 6-1 1/4 (1.86m). Habern was also eighth in the long jump at 22-1 3/4 (6.75m).
Collins finished fifth in the shot put with a distance of 46-7 (14.20m).
Van Poppel qualified for the 60-meter-hurdles finals with a time of 8.38 seconds during Friday's preliminaries. He will be seeded No. 7 in Saturday's finals when the meet wraps up.
The Saints currently sit third in team scoring with 42 points behind Indiana Tech (100) and Cornerstone (50).
