
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. and GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- The Siena Heights women's indoor track and field team competed at two locations over the weekend, traveling to the Jet's Pizza Invitational (Saginaw Valley) and the WHAC/MIAA Challenge (Aquinas).
Jet's Pizza Invitational
The Saints had a strong showing at Saginaw, racking up four event wins. SHU women combined for four NAIA auto performances and two provisionals.
Siena Heights had 1-2 finishes in three different events: the 60 hurdles, high jump and pole vault.
Faith Jackson and Linnearia Richards were 1-2 in the 60 hurdles with provisional times of 8.75 and 8.81, respectively. Both women ran season-best times during preliminaries -- Jackson, an auto 8.63, and Richards, a provo 8.69.
Emma Valentine and Morgan Lutton led the way in the high jump. Valentine's winning height was an auto 5-9 3/4 (1.77m) -- just a quarter-inch under her season-best. Lutton cleared 5-1 3/4 (1.57m).
Margherita Conrad and Emma Stewart went 1-2 in the vault. Conrad had an auto 12-6 1/4 (3.82m) while a 2 3/4-inch improvement moved Stewart from provo to auto with a 12-2 1/2 (3.72m). Samantha Nowell placed fifth with an 11-2 1/2 (3.42m).
Richards had a second provisional performance while winning the long jump with an 18-7 (5.66m).
Richards also ran the 4x400 relay with teammates Terria Fisher,Brooke Sharp and Jenna-Ann Johnson. That group placed runner-up in 4:00.90 -- less than two seconds away from a provisional mark.
WHAC/MIAA Challenge
Haley Bell was the Saints' lone winner at Aquinas, finishing the mile in 5:41.41.
