GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's soccer team shut out Aquinas in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) matchup on Wednesday night. Gustavo Barros (Junior, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul) scored a goal off five shots, four of which were on goal.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Siena Heights 2, Aquinas 0

Location: Grand Rapids, Mich. (AQ Athletic Field)

Records: Siena Heights (7-9-1, 4-5-1 WHAC), Aquinas (4-7-6, 3-4-3 WHAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Aquinas' offense come out on top as they put up six shots compared to SHU's three but struggled to put the ball past goalkeeper Leo Hisamatsu (W, 4-6-1). The rest of the half remained a battle as neither team was able to capitilize on their chances and the game was scorless at half time.

Despite Aquinas edgeding SHU on offense as they put up 14 shots compared to SHU's 10, SHU's offense got it done. Opening the scoring was Barros as he netted the ball off an assist from Brayden Stephan (Senior, Highland, Mich.) and Kiah Finley (Senior, Holly, Mich.) in the 47th minute. The half remained neck and neck for nearly 30 minutes until Justin Gray (Senior, Fraser, Mich.) found the back of the net in the 76th minute to give SHU the 2-0 lead. Aquinas' final push came up short and SHU held on for the win.
