HOW IT HAPPENED

Both teams were in a battle at the beginning of the half for possession and set up scoring opportunities early but were unable to connect the ball on net. The Racers took over possesion as they dominated putting up 19 shots compared to the Saints' three but were unable to put the ball past SHU defense and goalkeeper Hisamatsu (Senior, Osaka, Japan). The half remainded a scoreless dead lock through half time.

The Saints defense held strong against UNOH's dominating offense as the Racers put up 11 shots comparted to SHU's four. The Saints picked up momentum on possession and had a couple key scoring opportunities to get the lead but were punched out by UNOH goalkeeper Mark McMillian (T, 6-1-6). Both teams were neck and neck the rest of the half but neither team were able to capitalize on their chances and the game was pushed to overtime.

In the 96th minute SHU had a scoring opportunity as Chris Ornelas (Senior, Belding, Mich.) took a free kick from 20 yards out but the shot went high. The Saints defense continued to hold strong against the Racers offense and neither team was able to find the back of the net sending the game into double overtime. UNOH edged SHU four shots to two.

In the 102nd minute Ornelas took a shot from 40 yards out but it was just a tad high. UNOH controlled possession and had a few scoring opportunities but were unable to piece anything together.
